Writings about Music

Chilling

Revisiting the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust this week, practically hidden within a park, their enlarged reproductions of the Los Angeles Times front pages from the thirties and forties are chilling. One example: From 1935, a story about how Germany had enacted a new law that all newspapers are forbidden to criticize the government, and, in fact, they now worked for the government. And from 1942, a story about how half of the Jewish people living in Europe and Russia had been confirmed killed (2,000,000 estimate to date), part of an ongoing articulated genocide by Germany.

Land of Pancakes: Walking Miracle Mile tells the story of how I inadvertently discovered this museum one afternoon several years ago.
