Michael Robinson: Bhoop (Azure Miles Records)

An extended, graceful performance by Michael Robinson of the raga 'Bhoop', also known as 'Bhupali'. Another performance of the same raga is the title work on Robinson's 1997 CD, 'Indian Jasmine'. On the present recording, the alap slowly evolves (30 minutes, featuring a solo with the sounds of a clarinet), when the tabla enters. The tempo doubles around 45 minutes. This is a very lovely work and most beautifully performed.
